Airport - Hector International Airport is just a few miles from the hotel. Fargo, ND, is serviced by Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, Allegiant Air, Delta, and Frontier.
Special Events in the Area - With additional classes this year, we have not set aside a special time to go as a group into the community as we have in previous years. We will provide a list of Fargo/Moorhead Highlights for you to pursue on your own when you have free time.
Bookmark Exchange - Last year's Bookmark Exchange was a resounding success with half of the donated bookmarks going home with one lucky lady to distribute to her local schools or adult literacy program. We would like to do that again this year. Bring a stitched bookmark to exchange and if you wish to donate a bookmark or several, these will go to school children or adult programs to promote literacy.
Christmas Ornament Exchange - back by popular demand! Bring a stitched ornament to exchange with another Retreat attendee. BOTH EXCHANGES come with rules (like everything does). These will be two separate exchanges so each bookmark or ornament must be in a separate gift bag or box with your name on the inside. We will pass these out at the scheduled time, at random. What fun it is to see what treasures are in your bags.
Project/UFO Swap Meet - For those of you who have started a project and just don't want to finish it, maybe someone else will want to take it home and finish it for themselves! Also if you have supplies you no longer need, be it fabrics, threads, gadgets, bring them in a clear plastic bag and we will put them out for people to swap. For each bagged item you bring, you will receive a token, allowing you to swap your token for someone else's bag of goodies. All unclaimed bags of goodies at the end of the Retreat will be donated to a local women's shelter. The exchanges and swaps are entirely optional and you may choose to participate in one, or all or none.
Scissors Sharpening Service - During the Retreat we will again bring in a professional scissors sharpening service so if you have dull embroidery scissors that you would like to make usable again, bring them along! For a small fee, your old scissors may cut like new again. Be aware that some scissors are beyond repair with stripped screws that cannot be replaced, but the professional will do what he can to bring a new sharp edge to your well-used embroidery scissors.
No Pets Allowed - Due to allergy issues, and out of courtesy to other retreat attendees, no pets will be allowed in any of the Retreat rooms, at meals, in classes or at open stitching.
