This beautiful 64-page book is filled with photos, close up details and charts for the nine winning designs in this year's Hardanger contest. When we began this Hardanger design contest in 1979, we had many, many entries, but they were all from the United States and primarily from the Midwest. In this, the 31st year of the contest, as last year, many of our entries come from outside our country's borders. The nine winners this year are from the United States (2), Canada (3), Australia (3) and Japan (1). Hardanger embroidery is truly an international needleart and proves you don't have to be of Scandinavian ancestry to be a designer of Hardanger embroidery. The designs include two 34"-36" square table cloths, a white runner embellished with beads, an intricate large white oval table center, a beautiful baptismal dress, a square piece with many different filling stitches and three runners. This book of Hardanger designs is for the intermediate to advanced level Hardanger stitchers. Each piece is an heirloom piece of needleart.
