Hardanger embroidery:
is a counted thread, cutwork embroidery, originating in the Hardanger region of Norway. Traditionally it was worked with white thread on white fabric, and used to embellish aprons, blouses, bed linens and other clothing. It is still used for those purposes, but has expanded to other uses as well. Colored threads and fabric are used today and other uses include framed needleart pieces, bellpulls, suncatchers, bookmarks, table linens, curtains, and in combination with other embroideries.

Counted Cross Stitch: The cross stitches are worked on even-weave fabric. The patterns are in the form of charts the stitcher follows. Each color of thread has a different symbol on the chart. Nordic Needle carries counted cross stitch patterns and kits from hundreds of designers. Patterns are available for every occasion, holiday, season, and hobby.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery: The latest technique on the needlework block is silk ribbon embroidery. This beautiful, easy to learn embroidery is perfect for embellishing clothing, combining with cross stitch or hardanger, or just by itself in a frame. The silk ribbon comes in three widths and dozens of colors. The new Petals silk ribbon is hand-dyed variegated in many luscious colors and blends. Many pattern books are available as well as kits.

Brazilian Embroidery: A three-dimensional embroidery that literally leaps out at you! Basically this embroidery is used for floral designs and is made into decorative clothing embellishments, framed pieces, bed and table linens and more. The rich, lush rayon threads add to its beauty and attractiveness. Nordic Needle offers a full line of threads, patterns, fabric and accessories to complete your own Brazilian embroidery.

Tatting: This delicate lace can be created with a shuttle or with tatting needles. Learn to create beautiful edgings, snowflakes, doilies and trims. Nordic Needle offers a full line of tatting patterns, tools, and thread for the beginner and advanced tatter.

Canvaswork: It's also been called counted needlepoint! Many different fibers are used on 18 count mono canvas or linen canvas to create exquisite canvaswork designs. Patterns are available as well as fibers and fabric.

Please visit your local needlework shop to find our Hardanger embroidery publications. If they do not stock our books, perhaps they would be willing to special order them for you.
