Grey Placemat Set (March 2002)
 Stitch this beautiful white on grey placemat, coaster and napkin ring set from Table Settings in Hardanger Embroidery by Marie A. Larson.
Finished Size:
- Placemat: 9.13” x 13.35”
- Large Coaster: 4.14” point to point
- Small Coaster: 3.14” point to point
- Napkin Ring: 1.6” x 4.7”
Materials:
- Placemat: pearl grey Cashel linen fabric (28 count), Item 3281-705
Thread for each set:
- 1 ball #5 and 1 ball #8 DMC pearl cotton, color 5200 (snow white)
- 1 skein #5 and 1 ball #8 DMC pearl cotton, color 415 (pearl grey)
- OR 1 skein #5 and 1 ball #8 Anchor pearl cotton, color 1 (white)
- 1 skein #5 and 1 ball #8 Anchor pearl cotton, color 398 (grey)
Working Instructions:
Placemat: Holding the fabric horizontally, from the lower right corner measure 5” to the left and 5” up to begin the first satin stitch block (see arrow on chart) using white size #5. For all the pieces in this set, all the satin stitch blocks and buttonhole are worked with size #5 white. All the solid motifs are worked with size #5 grey with the exception of the diamond-shaped motifs at the tops of the half stars, which are worked in white #5. The size #8 white is used for all the eyelets, woven bars, cross filling stitch and cable in the placemat. The size #8 grey is used for the cable in the small coaster and the hemstitch on the placemat.
Large and Small Coaster: Fold the fabric in half to find the center line. Measure down 1” to begin the first satin stitch block.
Napkin Ring: Center the design on the fabric.
