picture of finished designHardanger Embroidery greeting card insert designed by Roz Watnemo

    Finished size of design:

    • 2 3/4" x 3 1/4"

    Materials used:

    Working Instructions:

Fold the fabric in half lengthwise to find the center line. From the top, measure down 2 1/8" and two fabric threads to the right to begin the first satin stitch block, using white Elegance (see arrow). Work all the satin stitch blocks. Use white Subtlety for the cable stitch. Use light green Elegance for the back stitched flower stems and leaves. Use one strand of Bravo! for the lazy daisy flowers.

Cut and remove threads in the cross design and work the woven bars, picots and webs with one strand of Bravo!. Press the finished piece, right side down on a terry towel. Sew the Mill Hill Treasure butterflies in place.

Cut the Hardanger design in a circle that is 3/4" larger than the card opening. Be sure the design is centered before you cut it out. Mount the finished needlework behind the card opening, using a fabric blue or two-faced tape. Mount the paper highlight behind the needlework to show through the laser cut design and the Hardanger design.
