Tassel Making – Learn to make decorative tassels and cords in this class. With 15 different specialty fibers, and several embellishments, you will learn to make five tassels in class and have supplies left to make many more. Learn the Crown/Friendship head, the basic head, buttonhole head, cording, and ways to embellish the heads and tassels. Fifteen different fibers are included in the supplies, but feel free to bring some of your own thread stash to experiment with later.

Beginning Tatting – Learn how to tat using a delicate little shuttle, while creating a charming little bookmark. This class will cover the basic instructions of shuttle tatting and once you have mastered the basics, you will be able to create tree decorations, doilies, trims and more. Pattern book included with supplies.

Beginning Hardanger Embroidery – Learn the basic satin stitch block, cutting. Eyelet, and woven bars, with spokes. Finished design fits in the hand-painted Rosemaled mat (by Jess Watnemo), ready for framing. Work on 20 count Lugana with Caron overdyed pearl cotton. Bring a fine-point embroidery scissors to class.

Intermediate Hardanger I – Learn five delicate filling stitches while creating a lacy ornament worked on 28 count Cashel linen. Use pearl cotton in sizes 8 and 12 and Kreinik #4 braid for shimmering highlights. Pre-work of satin stitch blocks and buttonhole edge is required before class. Bring a fine-point embroidery scissors to class.

Intermediate Hardanger II – In this lacy heart design, you will learn eight filling stitches! Worked on 25 count Dublin linen with Watercolours and Wildflowers and #8 fine braid for glimmer, finished size is 6 ¼” x 5 ½”. Pre-work of satin stitches is required before class so the entire three hours can be dedicated to learning these 8 filling stitches. Bring a fine-point embroidery scissors to class.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery - New Judith Montano overdyed silk ribbon is the featured fiber in this class. Learn several different stitches while creating a stunning floral row, suitable for framing, making a pillow insert, runner border or many other possibilities. Supplies include beautiful Australian magazine with many more patterns for additional after-class projects in several techniques. Bring an 8” hoop to class.

Brazilian Embroidery for Beginners – Jean created this “Jasmine Heart” design that teaches the bullion stitch, cast-on stitch, bullion tipped lazy daisy and pistil stitch. On the pre-drawn fabric, you will use Lola, Iris and Glory rayon fibers. Bring a 7” hoop with lip.

Goldwork with a touch of Shisha – Elegance is created with several different silk and metallic fibers, Gold Sadi, beads, and two little mirrors for the Shisha technique. Learn couching, as well as several other Goldwork stitch techniques while you work on soft suede fabric. Bring a 12” hoop or QSnap to class.

Counted Thread Embroidery Band Sampler – This sampler bellpull design is worked on 24 count linen bands with Watercolor thread, cotton, silk and metallic threads. Learn to use these different fibers while learning several counted thread stitches. Pre-work of the satin stitches is required before class.

Beginning Canvaswork – Designer, Laura J. Perin created a 5” square design especially for Nordic Needle and you will learn the basic stitches of canvaswork in this class. You will also learn how to work with several different fibers from overdyed threads, to metallics and pearl cotton, on 18 count mono canvas.

Framing Techniques – Learn the techniques of padding, stretching and finishing the back of your stitchery (bring a piece to work with). If you take beginning Hardanger or the framable piece in the intermediate Hardanger class, or the Goldwork, canvaswork, silk ribbon or Brazilian piece, and get it finished, bring it to class. Other finishing techniques demonstrated will be lacing and taping.
