The book is a good way to learn shuttle tatting and with the DVD you can watch some one's hands making the motions which can be the hardest part of learning tatting. There are some errors in the doily pattern, though.

Even though I learned shuttle tatting from an actual person, I bought this book to brush up on the technique. I'm glad I did! Not only does the DVD help with the actual motions of the shuttle, it also gives you information on split rings and chains, which I'd found difficult to learn from printed material alone. Extremely helpful.
