Solid colors. 50% silk/50% wool. 36 yards per skein. These fibers are hand-painted and permanent. They are dyed in small amounts so each batch will vary in distribution of color and in intensity. While this adds character to the fiber, it is advisable to purchase enough thread for a large project at one time. Caution: Pre-rinse reds before stitching.
"HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! on Wednesday!!! I just read the e-mail newsletter, and the Story and photos are wonderful. Thinking back.....I guess I've "been with you" as a mail-order customer since 1988 or 1989. First through the needlework shop I worked at, when we ordered hardanger books and kits from you; and then on my own after the shop closed in 1990. --Someday-- I'll make the "pilgrimage" ... to visit and meet you again face-to-face. :-) I say "again", as we did briefly meet when I attended a trade show way back when, while an employee of the needlework shop -- and I took a class from both you and Sue on hardanger at the trade show in Pennsylvania. I had been self-taught, from a Norwegian language hardanger embroidery book I had purchased while visiting with my father's family in Bergen, Norway (taught myself using the photos, diagrams and a Norwegian/English dictionary!); you both encouraged me that I was doing it correctly, and showed me a few little tips like an easier way to cut. Anyway, I came back to the shop all excited and we started also carrying hardanger embroidery supplies and books, and I started teaching beginner classes using one of your coaster kits. I'll be with you all in spirit on Wednesday! Happy Day! Lynn"
