Flutterbye is a simple blackwork design featuring butterflies using metallic threads and beads to add texture and interest. It can be worked in many different colours. Variegated threads work well within this type of design. Blackwork embroidery has been in use since Tudor times and it is very satisfying to link the past with a modern design. Liz also includes a bonus 'Minibye' pattern: a smaller butterfly in blackwork. Suggested supplies: 14" x 14" piece of 28 count white evenweave fabric (3270-100); DMC floss 310, E3852; Mill Hill beads 0557.
