In ancient Japan, temari was a craft of recycling, and it can be the same for us today. This adorable temari features a jolly Santa Claus in the shape of a star, complete with 3-dimensional knotted beard, hat, and belt. Barbara steps you through creating your core ball and all of the stitching with materials lists, diagrams, and excellent instructions. This is a 7 page, beginner level pattern. Instructions include details on making the ball, stitching a 5-point star, bouillion knot and French knot. No marking or guideline are required as a template is provided to stitch the star. Suggested supplies: DMC size 5 pearl cotton white, 0310, 0666; DMC floss for Santa's face; metallic thread in gold or silver, pom pom for the top of the hat, #18 darner needle, pins for eyes and use as guides.
If you choose to kit this pattern, the supplies listed are to complete one pattern as represented, unless otherwise noted. Our staff suggested substitutions appear in parentheses.
