Kogin is a uniquely Japanese needlework technique that was born of a practical desire for warmth, and the need to strengthen fabric used in everyday life. It is recognizable by its geometric designs which are embroidered with thick threads on a base fabric. It dates back to the 1600's and has quite an interesting history. 20 pages. This project provides an introduction to Japanese Kogin. A Zabuton is the square pillow that Japanese use to sit on in lieu of a chair. Some basic knowledge of Kogin is necessary. A suggested resource is Techniques of Japanese Kogin, sold separately. We have substituted black fabric until we have a suitable blue in the correct count.
