Hardanger embroidery is a technique that originated in the Hardanger area of Norway over 400 years. It was originally called Norwegian Drawn Thread and was traditionally worked on white linen fabric using white linen threads. Because linen was expensive, this embroidery was used on special garments worn for weddings and holidays. A basic knowledge of Hardanger Embroidery is assumed. The project is a doily that the author's grandmother made as a young woman. 9 pages.
