Learn the basics of Swedish Weaving while completing a lesson piece which could become a bag, wall hanging, or bellpull. Swedish weaving is a traditional stitching technique that was first found among linens dated to the 1600s. The "fad" among Swedish embroiderers was to match the color of the table linens to the family dinnerware. It is also known as Huck Weaving taking the name from the type of fabric used to stitch on. This technique is a member of the needlework family known as pattern darning. The learning project is a Swedish Weaving Sampler designed to include some of the most common stitches used in Swedish Weaving. Various threads are also used so you can experiment and find the threads you like most. The finished sampler measures about 9" x 12" on 14-count Aida.
